Panztel secure rights to Codebox
Providers of the eziTracker hm service - Panztel - have recently purchased the rights to the Codebox business from Box 10 Technology Limited.
The Codebox is a small box that generates a code that is sent via a text message from a mobile phone to eziTracker. It is used where there is no fixed line phone and provides a simple a cost-effective method of accurately determining a person’s location. The agreement provides Panztel with the design rights to the codeboxes and the associated software. Panztel will now have direct control of the manufacturing process and will operate the Internet-based service that links to codeboxes to eziTracker.
Dave Ellis, Panztel’s Technical Director said “the Codebox has now become an important element of the eziTracker service and is used by Councils and independent homecare providers where the client receiving care does not have a phone. It is important that the service behind the codeboxes is as reliable as other elements of eziTracker, and therefore we have decided to operate the service ourselves. We also plan to improve the supply chain to ensure a more reliable supply of the boxes. Now that we own the software we can enhance the Codebox to operate in other environments where the standard telephone is not the best solution for using eziTracker.”
Panztel also plans to introduce the Codebox in its Australian and New Zealand operations. Barry Williams, Sales Manager for ANZ said “we have seen the success of the Codebox in the UK and positive feedback from our customers has encouraged us to operate the Codebox service in Australia and New Zealand. We expect to start the service in April 2009.”
