Customers have asked about implications for the eziTracker hm service should BT engineers go on strike. BT has had an extended warning of the possibility of industrial action and has announced that it has extensive contingency plans in place. The 21st century telecommunications network is designed to be highly resilient and can operate for an extended period with only limited support. In the event of a strike it is highly unlikely that there would be any rapid deterioration in service. However, it is possible that the time taken to fix faults would increase and this would include faults to BT phone lines used to call eziTracker hm. Should the site’s phone line be unavailable customers should consider backups including allowing calls from mobile phones or using manual time entries. Our helpdesk can advise how to do this. Panztel has a comprehensive disaster recovery plan to cope with problems such as those which might result from industrial action. None of the telecoms services used to operate eziTracker hm are supplied by BT. EziTracker hm uses two alternative networks so it is not directly affected by any deterioration in BT’s service. Our suppliers have confirmed that the services that they supply to us are not dependent on BT lines or services. Our telephone service is also provided by an alternative supplier so we are confident that we will be able to continue to support our customers.
