Sonya Wins Ceretas homecare award for 2009
Sonya O’Connell from Bridgend Borough Council’s has won the eziTracker sponsored title of Home Care Worker Award for Wales 2009.
The awards, organised by Ceretas, pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the field of in home care. This year the awards were presented by television personality Ruby Wax.
Commenting on the award, Sonya said: “I was absolutely overwhelmed to be nominated in the first place, so to win is just the icing on the cake! I am so grateful to my colleagues for thinking to put my name forward - the job really is a team effort and this honour is for everyone I work with.”
Bridgend County Borough Council leader Mel Nott said:
“We are so proud of Sonya who, like all our home care workers, provides such an amazing service for our more vulnerable residents. Communities really need people like Sonya, and it is fantastic that she has been recognised in these national awards.”
